I don't think Raf gets enough love in TF P.

He's the youngest, quietest, and honestly the sweetest little kid.

The show seems to be heavy on implication, so it seems that Raf doesn't get a lot of attention at home or at school, so he hangs out by himself. That's why he's developed such an attachment to Miko, Jack, and the Autobots.

He's a sweet kid who's now got an awesome family that values him, that hears him. In the end, that's what every child deserves.
